From Ninety Years of Boyhood: “So we settled down comfortably in homelike Hotel Medford, in the heart of the model little city of that name, facing the library, located in the center of a fine old park. There, with books in plenty, comfortable park seats her desire for quiet study and authorship, the declining Mrs. Strahorn could serenely regale herself and glory in a valley ablaze and sweetly scented with blossoming fruits and flowers, instead of enduring the trying situation in wilderness mining camps I pictured as we were leaving New York.” | |
