John Grier" -American Republican (newspaper) Downingtown, dated November 11, 1817. 1820 US Census in East Nantmeal, Chester, Pennsylvania 1850 US Census in Jackson, Knox, Ohio as a Miller, 57 years old Received $80 from Samuel's Will proven 1858 We have no birth record for this Thomas, and his birth year is calculated from the 1850 US Census record. We have assumed that his mother was Mary, because it is inconceivable to us that Samuel and Hannah Gheen would have had a child five years before their marriage.

It is the only record we have found for this Thomas, who apparently did not survive, because the name Thomas was used again in 1793. This is also the only record of Samuel's first wife, Mary.
